Description
Vintage Silver Stencil Bb Cornet 9665 w/ Case Mute 2 Mouthpieces 1920s C G Conn Ltd.This is a consigned item so feel free to ask questions.
My friend is about 65 and tells me it used to be his father's before him. He thinks
this Cornet is probably from the 1920s. His recollection is his dad bought it at Sears.
The only distinguishing marking I can find on it is the serial number 9665. The bell has a floral etching and what looks like a blank nameplate area on the top that has nothing inscribed.
Thanks to Vintagemutes for some added
information:
This was apparently made for contract music store by Conn to inscribe their own store name on the blank area.
It comes with a Shastock Student Solotone mute. Made in USA
It comes with a case. The outside of the case appears to be alligator. It is old so it might be real, it might not. The outside of the case has a lot of wear. The inside is velvety and relatively clean. The latches on the case open and close (right side is rusty and the spring is failing). There is no key though.
It has a sweet like smell and appears to be, but not guaranteed to be, completely silver. No parts look like brass, not even the insides.
It has 2 mouthpieces. They also have no markings whatsoever. The each weigh 2.8 and 2.9 ounces.
The whole instrument weighs 2 pounds 10.4 ounces.
