    Description

A Great American horn that is in GREAT shape! Horn has a two piece nickel silver bell and brushed lacquer finish. Has been cleaned and plays with a big full sound and excellent intonation. Comes with a brand new case.
An Intermediate level cornet that was made in Fullerton after they merged with the F. E. Olds Company!!!
This is an outstanding trumpet and a top-quality intermediate level instrument by Reynolds and Olds in Fullerton California. F.A. Reynolds worked with H.N. White at King and was instrumental in the King Master Model horns. He formed his own company and did horns through WWII for the military. Reynolds was long known for their fantastic playing trumpets. In 1970 Norlin Music consolidated the Reynolds and Olds brands in Fullerton California. If you need more information visit Contempora Corner on the web, which is the top place to find information on the Reynolds line. The serial number on this beauty is 278981 (which should date the horn to 1971) and the logo on the horn says:
    “R” for Reynolds
    Emperor
It has a beautiful NEW Brushed brass and nickel lacquer finish with only a few small blemishes. I bought this horn based on the model and the reputation that it has. The bell has a nickel flair with a yellow brass tube. These were known as top players! The horn was ultrasonically cleaned and then it was polished. It was completely gone over and any large dents were removed. I have played this horn and it has a wonderful darker tone, and a nice full sound.  It plays free and easy in all registers with the .468” bore. It plays full and in tune from the bottom of the staff to the top. It's in excellent mechanical condition - all the tuning slides work smoothly, including the first and third which are usually frozen and require some kind of repair. The horn has NO missing slide pulls (rare in a used horn). The valves work freely and spring back into place with ease and have new felts, corks, and springs in them. The throw is very short on this horn. The valves have almost no wear and work very smooth! There are NO dents in any of the tubing and as we said earlier, just a few very small ripples from past wear. I put lots of work in this horn because I really LOVE the old Reynolds/Olds sound and I like that this is a Nickel bell flared horn! The horn has new spit valve corks and new “O” rings on the third valve slide. The cornet comes with a nice mouthpiece. You also get the NEW MTS case, which you see in the pictures. It is black thermoform outside and the inside is very plush black. There is also the MTS logo plate on the front of the case exterior. This is a great NEW case with good looks! This is your chance - why spend upwards of 00 for a trumpet (Conn-Selmer has a few intermediate models now that go for 00-1550) when you can pick this up for a lot less than that? Take a look...it’s a great horn for a student or intermediate player, comeback player, or someone who wants to collect Reynolds items! This horn was built to play and last.
