    Description

RARE TLINGIT BEADED HIDE MEN’S MOCCASINS, ABSTRACT FOLIATE DESIGN, C1880, EXCELLENT
Very fine pair of Northwest Coast Beaded Hide Moccasins, Tlingit, c. late 19th century, soft hide and/or seal skin with unusual green cloth vamps - they are usually red, beaded with multicolored abstract foliate designs.  Neat line of green cloth sewn into back seam matches vamps!
These came with a card noting that they are “deaccessioned by the Museum of Native American History”.
These early Tlingit type of moccasins are seldom seen in the marketplace and these are in exceptional condition. They measure approximately 9.5” in length.
Please note, someone with Tlingit ancestry stated that the design is referred to as KELP FLOWERS. I have heard of Seaweed patterns, so this may be a more exact identification.
Everything guaranteed as stated. Shipping includes full insurance. Please ck out my other quality auctions as I will be listing some nice Navajos, Paintings, and other neat items. Thank you!
