    Description

Offered for your consideration is a Ritchie Brass gimbaled unboxed compass serial #42133. I believe that it was originally marketed by Robertson of Halifax, as that is marked on the center of the dial. See the pictures for cosmetic condition, which I would rate as "Okay". I am sure it could be polished up to at least "Good". The function is a little confusing to me. It seems to be reversed 180 degrees, with the north indicator pointing south. This is outside, as far away from any metal interference as I can get. I don't know how these are constructed. I assume the magnet is attached to the floating dial, and maybe the dial came loose at some point and the dial turned out of position relative to the magnet. The liquid, alcohol, I presume, has a bubble about half the surface diameter in it. This was in my father's stuff, and I was going to make a box for it and use it a display item. I have enough other projects I really need to do, and too much "stuff" laying around, so I'm trying to thin out the "stuff". Any questions, please feel free to ask. Domestic shipping is included in the sale price.
