Conn New Wonder 80a? Long Cornet. 1950s?.
Selling a long cornet that my dad left for me. Please pay careful attention to the pictures. I am a newbie to the trumpet world, but after looking at this horn, I noticed a few things:
-all solders are easily removed and the rotary tuner works fine
-The valves look to be in good shape (see pics), but the first valve was sticking when I first picked up the horn. After a few presses, it seems to be working fine now, but no future promises.
-has a unique 3 piece configuration for the 1st and 3rd slides.
-The serial numbers and words such as “patented” are barely visible, so I’m thinking it’s been re-lacquered at some point. As such, I am unable to determine the year. It looks like the serial number starts with a four(1950s?), but my guess is as good as anyone’s. It could start with a 1. I also think that the coronet may have originally been silver due to the finish wearing off in certain areas and showing a silver color underneath. The pics show this around joints etc.
-There are scratches and dents throughout the horn. The most noticeable is on the bend by the mouthpiece receiver. You should be able to see this in the pictures.
    - there are a couple of patches (2nd valve popper, also where main tubing connects to 1st valve)
Does NOT have a case or mouthpiece. Extreme care will be taken when preparing for shipment. I’ve been told by other customers that the packing was more than enough for other orders.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!
