    Description

Conn Constellation Model 28A Bb Long Cornet, serial number 508145, made in 1955.  K & D Estate Sales LLC is selling this for the original owner who bought it new as a junior high student in 1955. Because of a physical problem, he could not play this with his right hand, so he had the finger hook moved from the main tuning slide side to the bell flare. To add to the stability needed to hold the horn left-handed, he had the finger hook replaced with a finger ring. The work done on the switch is poor, but it would be an easy job for a good technician to move it back and clean it up.
I’m a retired (French) horn professor so I know the basics about trumpets and cornets, however, I’ve had to rely on the internet to learn more about this instrument.  There seems to be a lot written about these “long” cornets and some of it is contradictory. It has Connstellation on the mouthpiece receiver (not Connstellation “A”). It has C. G. Conn - LTD. Connstellation   Elkhart - USA on the bell.  The receiver will only accept a cornet mouthpiece and it comes with a Bach 3C.
The horn is in excellent condition only showing evidence of minor repairs, if any.  The valves seem tight and have no worn spots in the silver plate.  Bell and mouthpiece are “Electro-D" silver plated, which I gather from my research is brass, electrolytically plated with copper, and then electrolytically plated with nickel.
It comes in the original case, which, with the acceptation of the latch springs, is in good condition plus the Bach 3C cornet mouthpiece and a mute.
